DRACULA ILLUMINATED EDITION

Created by Ethereal Visions Publishing

One of the most iconic horror characters, Bram Stoker's Dracula helped create an entire genre of horror that is still popular in film and literature today. This timeless 1897 classic is the second in our three-part series of Classic Horror Creations. Each page of this edition is beautifully decorated in the traditional style of artists from the early to mid-1900s, such as Edmund Dulac and Arthur Rackham, and accompanied by six tipped-in color plates which focus on crucial moments of the reader's journey. This edition contains an introduction byWilliam Parker Stoker (Great-Great Grandnephew of Bram Stoker) and a foreword by Sean Kotz (Radford University Instructor, Cinema; Director, Horse Archer Productions).

Renfield, you have betrayed me....

Renfield, you have betrayed me...

Fresh from the asylum comes the fifth illustration for the DRACULA ILLUMINATED book, The Blood Is The Life!

The blood is the life!

The History behind the madness

When researching this well-known character, Matt found several portrayals of the character by legendary actors such as Alexander Granach, Dwight Frye, Jack Shepherd, Tom Waits, and Samuel Barnett. The one that was the most intriguing, however, was the legendary portrayal that never happened (at least not on film) - the one by Bernard Jukes.

Bernard Jukes as Renfield

Do any search for the Renfield character, and you will, no doubt, stumble across this image, which came out before the 1931 portrayal of Dracula. Many have mistakenly contributed this image to Dwight Frye, but given the recognizable front tooth gap that Bernard Jukes possessed, it is Mr. Jukes in this image.

"Having appeared onstage in various productions of "Dracula" in the role of Renfield over 1,000 times by his estimation, Mr. Jukes campaigned heavily to perform the part in the 1931 film version as well, ultimately losing out to Dwight Frye. As a result, publicity photos of Jukes in character as Renfield are frequently mistaken for - and published as -- photographs of Frye." - IMBd.com

With such mystery and legend surrounding this character and actor, it was only fitting that the fifth illustration for our DRACULA ILLUMINATED book pay homage to Bernard Jukes!

WE NAILED IT!!

Thanks to all of you, this project will now become a reality! We can't tell you how excited we are to move forward with DRACULA Illuminated! In early 2020 we will launch our third in this series of Classic Horror Creations, so please keep your horrific radars on for the emails and be sure to follow us here on Kickstarter.

What happens next?

At this very moment, Kickstarter is finalizing all of your payments. If there are any issues, they will send you a notification via the email address you have listed. Please watch for these emails as they sometimes get lost in spam folders. If there are any issues, you will need to address those with Kickstarter directly (we have no control over that part of the process). In 2 weeks we will get the final cleared number of orders and will be able to move forward with BackerKit, but we will undoubtedly talk again before that happens :-)

Thank you again for all of your support and help with this campaign. Keep an eye out for our new Patreon account which will offer lots of great stuff for subscribers!
